Mays 2011 - M2 Day 2

Bumped LMBC III

Spirits were high after a great club performance on the first day, followed up by a gutsy M3 rowover and a W2 bump. Today we'd be trying to bump LMBC III back after what their gents did to us last year. The first practice start was excellent, the second less so, so we knew what we were trying to emulate in the race. Selwyn, two in front, had a rudder failure at Chesterton, causing a delay to the division for the second day running and getting everyone slightly on edge in case it broke again and they didn't make it round First Post corner...

The actual start was better than yesterday, for the first few strokes at least. However, the stride didn't come at all, and we weren't rowing at proper length by the time we closed to 3/4 of a length short of first post. After that, the race progressed very similarly to yesterday. They held us at 3/4 of a length for a bit while trying to close on Selwyn, closing to 3/4 of a length themselves. However, they couldn't hold the pace, and we rapidly closed in, the kill call coming in the gut, and the bump coming about 3 strokes later than it did yesterday on the entrance to Grassy.

The row today felt better, but looked worse than yesterday. Let's make it look better tomorrow, chasing a Selwyn II crew who are chasing a spooning Emmanuel II.
